2. Iceland

I traveled to Iceland in the Summer of 2006. Suprisingly Iceland is not the foreboding country most people think it is. Our family went in the warmest month, July, the prime tourist season. The weather was mild and the country was lush green with waterfalls, glaciers, geysers and friendly people everywhere we visited. We drove around the whole country on the Ring road and our stops included Reykjavik, Akureyri, Egilsstađer, Höfn, and Vatnajökull. In general the sidewalks were lacking proper ramps in the cities, and were often stone rather than concrete, but other than that the cities were fine. However, as you get into the country things were not as handicapped accessible. Please read the pages on specific places for more information.
