Hveriv (Hverfall) fumeroles

Hveriv (Hverfall) fumeroles and mud pots allow you to experience volcanic activity right along route 1 (Ring Road) just East of Lake Myvatn. Excellent accessibility (packed dirt trail) around all the mud pots and fumeroles….but it really, really smells!!!!! If you don’t mind the strong smell of Sulfur you’ll be OK. There is an active volcano – Krafla, right down the road but we didn’t visit so I’m not sure about access.
