1. Assateague Island, Maryland

Assateague Island is a barrier island bordered on the the Atlantic Ocean and bordered on the west by Sinepuxent Bay. Miles of ocean beaches offer swimming, beachcombing, sunbathing and fishing. On the bayside go canoeing to secluded coves. The marsh areas have a variety of wildlife, including deer and feral horses. Assateague was selected by National Geographic Travel magazine in 1994 as one of the 10 best state parks in the United States….And the State Park offers free beach wheelchairs at the campground!

We stayed at the State campground. There are camping areas that are just for wheelchair campers. These sites have paved paths leading to the restroom ramps and there is even a ramp that takes you over the dunes to the Ocean. Be sure to call ahead and reserve your free beach wheelchair – they’re great!!

    Mark,

I am a friend of your Dad’s and he sent me a link to your site.

I think it is amazing! You are a really talented young man, and this is a very thoughtful and well-executed idea.

I’ll look forward to seeing more from you.

    Warm Wishes,

    Steve

Mark…cool looking wheels! You should work with you dad to design one similar to the one that you were riding in that is portable. Looks like something that you could sell and then your dad would have something to do with his engineering degree!

    Tell your Dad hi.
